Kathleen Quinn, CIYT
Kathleen is the owner/director of San Marcos Yoga. She took her first formal yoga class more than 30 years ago. She started practicing in earnest again in 1996 and began teaching in 2000. She completed the Iyengar Yoga three-year Teacher Training program in December of 2005. In 2007, Kathleen received her national/international teaching certification and degree from the IYNAUS Assessment Board, the certifying body for Iyengar Yoga teachers. In 2008 she was awarded a scholarship for study at RIMYI, the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune, India. She completed her sabbatical study in 2009. She continues to study with Senior Certified teachers Manouso Manos, Gloria Goldberg and Carolyn Belko.
If you were to ask, she would say that opening and teaching in her own yoga center is the natural progression of things. It is without a doubt, the song in her heart!
Nancy Ito, CIYT
My appreciation and curiosity for yoga came from love for movements and how the body works.
In my youth I studied dance and performed in the LA area, after getting injured from dance I found yoga the best way to heal and get my strength back.
I started practicing Iyengar yoga in 1999 in Los Angeles at the Iyengar Yoga Institute and Yoga Works.
In October of 2006 my husband and I moved down to San Diego, and I began my Iyengar yoga study with Gloria Goldberg at the Iyengar Yoga Center in La Mesa.
In 2007 I enrolled in the Iyengar yoga teacher training program at the Iyengar Yoga Center in La Mesa, and received my introductory II certification in 2011.
Teaching and sharing yoga allows me to give back to others the one thing that has given so much to my life. I learn something new everyday. I learn from my teacher, my practice and from my students.
My goal as a yoga teacher is to create a safe and fun class environment, a space where students can deeply connect with their body, breath, mind and spirit.
“It is desire, not ability, that is
the most important criterion for the practice of yoga.”
